1. About Unig Science

Unig Science is an international, peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal of Science and Technology published monthly online by Unig Science. Our mission is to provide an author-centric scholarly ecosystem that eliminates publication costs and rewards scientists through a transparent, innovative "Publish and Earn" (PAE) model.

Primary Goal:

To democratize publishing by removing financial barriers and incentivizing high-impact research through direct revenue sharing.

2. Scope and Submission Categories

Unig Science welcomes high-impact research papers and reviews across five major divisions:

3. The Publish and Earn (PAE) Model

Unig Science operates on a partnership model where authors, editors and reviewers receive financial compensation based on the demand (downloads) for published work.

3.1 Publication Costs

Zero Article Processing Charges (APC)

Authors and funding agencies are never required to pay for publication.

3.2 Revenue Sharing Schedule

Revenue generated from article downloads is distributed as follows:

3.3 Editorial Pooled Revenue (EPR)

To ensure the highest standards of scientific integrity and transparency, Unig Science has established a dedicated revenue-pooling policy for editorial and reviewer compensation. Under our Publish and Earn (PAE) model, the specific revenue shares allocated to editors, comprising 7% for Handling Editors, 9% for Reviewers (5% each), and 3% for Section Editors during years 1-3 and 2% for Handling Editors, 2% for Reviewers (1% each), and 1% for Section Editors during years 4-5 are pooled into a collective fund. This editorial pooled revenue (EPR) is distributed among all editors and reviewers who participate in the peer-review process, regardless of whether the evaluated manuscript is ultimately accepted or rejected.

3.4 Revenue Disbursement and Download Access

The primary corresponding author (1) will serve as the official point of contact to receive the "Revenue to Authors" at the end of each year or at the conclusion of the fifth year, depending on the total revenue generated.

To ensure the sustainability of the Publish and Earn (PAE) model, free downloads are not provided, even for corresponding authors, as financial rewards are directly tied to download demand. However, authors from United Nations Least Developed Countries (LDCs) are entitled to one free download of their published work through editorial office.

3.5 Tax Liability for PAE Revenue

Under the Publish and Earn (PAE) model, authors, editors, and reviewers receive direct financial compensation based on article download demand. It is the sole responsibility of the recipient (author, editor, or reviewer) to report this income and pay any applicable local, state, or international taxes. Unig Science and Unig Ventures will not withhold taxes and are not liable for any tax-related legal obligations of the participants.

4. Manuscript Preparation

Submissions will only be accepted for review if they are prepared using the official template downloaded from the website.

General Formatting

Manuscripts should be prepared according to the official Unig Science Template.

Article Structure

Title and Authors:

The title must be precise. Include full names, affiliations, emails, and ORCID iDs for all authors.

4.1 Abstract

  • • Must be a single, contiguous paragraph of 300 to 500 words
  • • Do not use internal headings
  • • Must logically cover: (1) Background/Knowledge Gap, (2) Methods, (3) Results (numerical and factual), and (4) Conclusions/Significance

4.2 Introduction

  • • Should act as a "funnel," moving from broad scientific context to the specific research gap being addressed
  • • Must cite key publications that form the foundation of the study
  • • Conclude by stating the main aim and principal conclusions of the work

4.3 Materials and Methods

  • • Must provide sufficient detail for reproducibility
  • • Must specify suppliers and locations for unique reagents or equipment
  • • Ethical Oversight: Any studies involving humans or animals must list the ethical approval authority and code
  • • Data Deposit: Large datasets (genomic, proteomic, etc.) must be deposited in recognized public databases with accession numbers provided

4.4 Results

  • • Findings must be presented logically and linked to methods
  • • Use subheadings that correspond to the Methods section
  • • Include immediate interpretation of data (e.g., "The reduction suggests direct inhibition") but save broader discussion for the next section

4.5 Discussion and Conclusions

  • • Discussion: Interpret results in the context of previous studies and address the initial hypothesis. Acknowledge limitations
  • • Conclusions: This section is mandatory. It must concisely summarize the main outcome and significance without introducing new data

5. References

References must be numbered sequentially in the order of appearance. Indicate citations in the text using square brackets, such as [1] or [4-6].

Visual Aids and Formatting

Figures and Tables:

Must be cited in the main text (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1) near their first mention. Figures with multiple panels must label them (A), (B), (C).

Equations:

Must be numbered sequentially in parentheses on the right side of the line.

Mathematical Proofs:

Must finish with an end-of-proof square symbol.

6. Ethics and Declarations

Generative AI (GenAI):

Substantive use of GenAI (design, data analysis, or text generation) must be disclosed in a separate statement. Minor grammar editing does not require disclosure.

Author Contributions:

Mandatory section detailing individual roles using the CRediT taxonomy (e.g., Conceptualization, Methodology).

GenAI Disclosure:

State whether Generative AI was used in the study design or manuscript preparation.

Conflict of Interest:

Explicitly state: "The authors declare no conflicts of interest" or list any relevant interests.

Informed Consent:

For research involving humans, authors must state: "Informed consent was obtained from all subjects involved in the study".

8. Cover Letter

When submitting a manuscript to Unig Science, your cover letter is the first opportunity to demonstrate that your work meets the journal's high standards for scientific soundness and ethical rigor.

Since Unig Science operates on the innovative Publish and Earn (PAE) model, your cover letter should not only address the technical merits of your research but also confirm your agreement with the journal's unique revenue-sharing and licensing policies.

Cover Letter Requirements for Unig Science

8.1. Core Information

Article Title:

The title must be identical to the one in your manuscript.

8.2. Scientific Rationale (Focus on Soundness)

Unlike traditional journals that prioritize "predicted impact," Unig Science prioritizes technical integrity. Your letter should answer:

  • • What specific knowledge gap does this research fill?
  • • Why is the methodology scientifically robust and appropriate for the research question?
  • • How does this work contribute to the advancement of its specific field?

8.3. Mandatory Policy Confirmations

To ensure transparency and compliance with the PAE model, you must include the following statements:

Originality & Approval:

Confirm that the work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not currently under consideration by another journal. Furthermore, certify that the final manuscript has been reviewed and approved by all authors.

PAE Model Agreement:

Acknowledge that all authors understand the revenue-sharing model (30% for authors in Years 1-3) and the pooling system for editor/reviewer compensation.

Primary Contact for Revenue:

Explicitly name the primary corresponding author who will serve as the point of contact for revenue disbursement.

Licensing Choice:

State your intended Creative Commons license (CC BY or CC BY-NC-ND) for the transition to Open Access in Year 6.

8.4. Ethical and Disclosure Statements

  • • Ethics Approval: If applicable, state that the study was approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee
  • • Conflicts of Interest: Authors must declare any interests or state: "The authors declare no conflicts of interest"
  • • Informed Consent: For research involving humans, authors must state: "Informed consent was obtained from all subjects involved in the study"

9. Editorial Policies

9.1. Plagiarism Policy

Unig Science maintains a zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts are screened using industry-standard detection software prior to peer review. In case of high similarity, authors will be requested to submit similarity report.

Manuscripts with a high similarity index (20%) or evidence of "text recycling" (self-plagiarism) will be rejected immediately. If plagiarism is discovered post-publication, the journal will follow Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, which may result in a formal retraction and notification of the author's institution.

9.2. Peer Review Process (Single-Blind)

To ensure an unbiased assessment of scientific soundness, Unig Science utilizes a single-blind peer review process. In this model, the reviewers are aware of the authors' identities, but the authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Every manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts and a Handling Editor.

9.3. Post-Publication Corrections and Retractions

If an error is discovered in a published article, the journal provides a clear mechanism for correction: For significant errors that do not undermine the scientific results, a formal notice (Errata/Corrigenda) will be published and linked to the original article. In cases of clear scientific misconduct, data fabrication, or major ethical violations, the journal will issue a formal retraction in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

9.4. Manuscript Withdrawal Policy

Authors may withdraw their manuscript free of charge at any time before it enters the formal peer-review stage. Once the peer-review process has commenced, withdrawal is strongly discouraged as it consumes significant editorial and reviewer resources. Requests for withdrawal must be submitted in writing to the Editorial Office with a detailed justification.

9.5. Technical Specifications for Media

To ensure high-quality online presentation, authors must adhere to these technical standards:

  • • Image Resolution: Photographic images must be at least 300 DPI. Line art and charts should be 600-1200 DPI
  • • File Formats: Figures should be submitted in TIFF, JPEG, or EPS format
  • • Videos: Supplementary videos should be in MP4 or MOV format with a maximum file size of 50MB

9.6. General Data Availability Statement

In addition to depositing large datasets in public repositories, all research articles must include a Data Availability Statement.

Examples include: "The data supporting the findings of this study are available within the article," or "Data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request".

9.7. Mandatory ORCID iDs

To ensure the accurate tracking of downloads and the precise disbursement of revenue in the PAE system, all authors are required to have a verified ORCID iD. Submissions with missing ORCID information for any named author will be returned for completion before being sent for review.

9.8. Appeals Process

Authors have the right to appeal a rejection if they believe the decision was based on a significant technical misunderstanding or factual error by a reviewer. Appeals must be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief within 14 days of the decision and must include a point-by-point rebuttal of the reviewers' comments. The Editor-in-Chief's decision on the appeal is final.
